It’s true, Facebook and Instagram are down!
You’re not the only one experiencing issues with Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp right now. Users around the world are experiencing problems at the present time. WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger are down. Errors are being reported across all three services across apps and the web. Error messages such as: “Sorry, something went wrong,” “5xx Server Error,” and others are being displayed to users.
According to data on Downdetector and Twitter, the outage affects every platform owned by Facebook. In this case, we’re talking about Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, and Facebook Messenger. It appears that the issue began late in the evening, as the outage began at around 9:15 pm IST. As of the time this article is being written, servers are down, and Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram are all unavailable.
Users are unable to send or receive new messages on WhatsApp. Users on Instagram are experiencing similar issues, where they are not able to log in, refresh their feed, or send direct messages (DMs). This is not the first time the Facebook server has crashed. A similar incident happened back in March 2021.
Over 20,000 incidents related to Facebook and Instagram were reported by Downdetector. WhatsApp, the social-media giant’s instant messaging platform, was also unavailable for over 14,000 users while Messenger was unavailable for nearly 3,000. Downdetector tracks outages by compiling status reports from a variety of sources, including user reports. A large number of users may be affected by the outage.
Facebook has commented on the outage.

According to WhatsApp, they are working to restore service as soon as possible and will send an update once things are back to normal.
