Features and specifications of the Ola S1 and S1 Pro

  • Ola S1 and S1 Pro start at ₹ 99,999 and ₹ 1,29,999, respectively. State subsidies, however, might allow you to buy the two electric scooters for less in places like Delhi and Maharashtra.
  • Ola S1 packs a 2.9kWh battery and delivers 8.5kW of peak power.
  • A 750W portable charger can charge the battery in about 6 hours. Or an Ola Supercharger in just 18 minutes can charge it up to 50%.
  • Meanwhile, the Ola S1 Pro comes with the same 8.5kW motor, except its battery is larger at 3.9kW.
  • Besides Normal and Sport riding modes, the S1 Pro also gets a ‘Hyper’ mode.
  • There are a number of modern features on both scooters. Those are Reverse Mode, inbuilt speakers, proximity sensors, app compatibility, and a Hill Hold function that keeps the scooter from rolling back on slopes while riding.
  • Riders can make custom settings, such as modes, sounds and settings, using a customizable all-digital touchscreen display.
  • The Ola S1 comes with a number of sensors that can sense when the user comes near the scooter or moves away from it, locking and unlocking itself on its own. Users can also lock or unlock the device using the smartphone app.

You can watch the live stream embedded below to see a summary of the launch event.

With a range of 181 km, acceleration of 0-40 km/h in 3 seconds, and a top speed of 115 km/h, the S1 Pro variant is setting new industry benchmarks. Battery capacity is 3.97kWh, more than 30% higher than the next-closest EV. And the motors are the most powerful in the category at 8.5kW of peak power.

The Ola S1 comes with a proprietary Battery Management System (BMS) that actively monitors the battery’s durability, performance, range, and safety.

Rather than having a physical key, it utilizes the “digital key” feature to pair with your phone. This allows it to detect when you are near it and unlock automatically. Whenever you move away, the device will lock itself. There is a multi-microphone array, a speech recognition algorithm developed in-house, and a bright, sharp 7-inch touchscreen display.

“Only around 160 million people in India today own a two-wheeler and that will increase significantly. While we need our people to own mobility solutions, we can’t let that be petrol vehicles. The only way out is to accelerate this electric journey. And that’s the vision which we started Ola Electric with,” said Aggarwal.

According to him, “the market is ready, the consumer is ready, it’s just that the companies aren’t ready” when it comes to offering EVs. And Ola is looking to accelerate that by launching globally competitive products in the market.
